Better Health in Bangladesh: Health Systems Strengthening Technical Assistance

The joint programme Better Health in Bangladesh: Health Systems Strengthening Technical Assistance aims to accelerate Bangladesh’s progress toward the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 3 – accelerating its progress on universal health coverage and reducing maternal mortality – through a strengthened health system.

Implemented in twenty selected districts, with some national components, the project provides technical assistance on health systems strengthening, including through capacity building and better supply chain management, to the government of Bangladesh. It has a specific focus on increasing demand for sexual and reproductive health services such as maternal health, family planning, cervical cancer screening and treatment, and sexually-transmitted infection prevention and control.

Funded by the United Kingdom and implemented by UNFPA and WHO, the programme started in 2018 and will run through June 2022.
