A Multisectoral Approach to Gender-based Violence Prevention and Response in North and Northeastern Uganda

The Joint Programme on Gender-based Violence in north and northeastern Uganda worked to reduce social tolerance for GBV, end impunity for sexual violence offenders and support survivors in accessing high-quality response services that are sensitive to their needs.

A joint effort of UNFPA, UN Women, FAO and UNICEF, with funding from Norway, the programme ran from 2011 to 2014, as a continuation of Phase 1 (2008-2011). A third phase ran from 2014 to 2017.
