UNITED NATIONS, New York — The 2018 United Nations Population Award laureates will receive their awards next week at an official ceremony at the organization’s headquarters. They were chosen by the Committee for the United Nations Population Award from among several international nominees for their outstanding work in population and in improving the health and welfare of individuals.

The Committee includes 10 United Nations Member States, with UNFPA, the United Nations Population Fund, serving as its secretariat.

WHO:

The 2018 Laureates:

•    Dr. Sir Prince Ramsey, an Antiguan physician credited with improving health care for thousands of people in Antigua and Barbuda. 

•    The Guttmacher Institute, a research and policy organization that advances sexual and reproductive health and rights in the United States and globally.

•    Save a Child’s Heart, an international humanitarian organization that provides life-saving cardiac surgery for children from developing countries. 

WHERE: ECOSOC Chamber, United Nations, New York. 

WHEN: 4:30-6 p.m., Tuesday, 26 June.
