The policy and procedure outline the different supply-chain management (SCM) processes and introduce the controls, and the related roles and responsibilities, required to improve the effectiveness of up-stream and down-stream SCM activities to allow UNFPA to (i) meet programme objectives, (ii) clarify the nature and extent of UNFPA’s programmatic and fiduciary responsibilities for programme supplies, (iii) improve internal supply chain capacity at all levels and (iv) mitigate the most significant risks inherent to this business process.  Among the most noteworthy requirements, the policy clarifies the nature and extent of UNFPA’s programmatic and fiduciary responsibilities for programme supplies, down to the “last mile”, and prescribes how to discharge them.
