Policy and Procedures on Flexible Working Arrangements

This policy sets out the available flexible working arrangements (flex-time; compressed working schedule; remote work within the duty station; remote work outside the duty station) that enable hybrid-work, reflect the expectations of United Nations Member States, and enable UNFPA staff members to better deliver UNFPA’s mandate.

Policy for Part-time Employment

This policy provides the regulatory framework for part-time employment at UNFPA. This includes part-time employment opportunities offered by UNFPA as well as those initiated at the request of a staff member. It establishes the approval process, roles and responsibilities and the adjustments of benefits and entitlements.

Policy on Hours of Work

This policy defines the hours of work for UNFPA staff members with permanent, fixed-term or temporary appointments which varies according to the duty station of assignment.

Policy for Parental Leave

This policy provides time off to eligible staff members to nurture, bond and care for their infants or adopted children. It sets out the eligibility and duration of parental leave.

Policy for Time Off for Lactating Parents

This policy provides lactating parents with time off to breastfeed/chestfeed and/or express milk for their infants.

Policy for Special Leave

This policy establishes the conditions under which a staff member may apply for or be placed on special leave.
