This month, dozens of countries around the world celebrate Mother's Day. Honour your mother with a donation to help save mothers' lives.
An estimated 303,000 women die of maternal causes every year. A majority of them die from severe bleeding, sepsis, eclampsia, obstructed labour or the consequences of unsafe abortion – all causes for which there are highly effective interventions.
Making motherhood safer is a human rights imperative. And we know how: Lives are saved when women have access to prenatal care, skilled birth attendance, emergency obstetric care and post-natal care. These essential services can even be provided in humanitarian settings, where women are especially at risk. UNFPA supports the training and deployment of midwives and other health professionals, and equips health systems with the medicines and supplies needed to make childbirth safe, even in disaster zones.
No woman should die while giving life. You can help.
