Duty Station: Home-based or New York, USA (as to be mutually agreed between UNFPA and the consultant)

Purpose of consultancy: 
Under the direct supervision of the Strategic Partnerships Specialist in the Strategic Partnerships Branch, and in close collaboration with regional and country colleagues, the Gender Equality, Inclusivity and Fashion Consultant will coordinate the activities of the newly launched partnership with a leading fashion industry company and support the expansion of the fashion for gender equality and inclusivity portfolio. 
The consultant will lead on the development of an educational module for young women that uses fashion and design as a powerful tool to affect social change and promote gender equality. This module will be piloted with young women in selected communities in Kenya and Ghana. 
Specifically, the consultant will lead on the following activities:
•    Review and assessment of existing resources on the use of fashion and design skills applied to the sustainable development, with a focus on gender equality
•    Development of educational activities and approaches that can be implemented in local communities to build young women’s skills, self-esteem and self-expression through fashion and design
•    Coordination of co-creation sessions with relevant partners to review and adapt the educational activities and approaches 
•    Technical assistance to country teams in Kenya and Ghana on the testing and piloting of the educational module in selected communities
•    Integration of young women’s feedback and experiences to finalize the education module
•    Organization of visibility activities and events to highlight the role of fashion in promoting gender equality
•    Development of proposals and coordination of outreach efforts to establish new relevant partnerships to support fashion-focused interventions in UNFPA
The consultant will work under the overall direction of the Chief of the Strategic Partnerships Branch to assist the Strategic Partnerships Specialist, in close collaboration with colleagues at regional and country levels.
Required Expertise and Qualifications

Education:
●    A completed master degree in fashion, design, international development or other relevant academic fields

Knowledge and Experience:
•    At least three years of professional experience in project management and coordination, skills development and elaboration of educational resources, and advocacy and visibility initiatives around gender equality and inclusivity
•    Proven expertise in fashion and design and the application of these skills to support the Sustainable Development agenda, with a focus on gender equality and inclusivity
•    Proven experience with international development partners/agencies and/or fashion industry companies is highly desirable
•    A successful track record in managing and developing partnerships with the private sector is highly desirable

Languages:
●    Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and fluency in another UN language desirable
