The position:
The Programme Assistant will work with operations, programme and technical staff to provide operational, programmatic and financial support to the Regional Office. The main areas of responsibility for the Programme Assistant will be administrative, financial, logistical and secretarial work within UNFPA Office. They will take a proactive and solutions focused approach to applying the rules, procedures and guidelines, providing vital support to donor-funded projects implemented by the Regional Office. The Programme Assistant will report directly to the Humanitarian Adviser.

In recent years UNFPA’s Asia Pacific Regional Office has successfully mobilized resources from Australia to implement regional initiatives on strengthening humanitarian preparedness and violence against women data, and is looking for a proactive and solutions-focused Programme Assistant to provide back-office support to ensure the annual workplans for these initiatives are successfully realized.
The Programme Assistant will plan and manage operational requirements to facilitate effective programme delivery.
Requirements:
Qualifications and Experience
Education:
Completed Secondary Level Education required. Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field desirable.
Knowledge and Experience:
• 5 years of relevant experience in administration, finance or office management.
• Familiarity of UNFPA system, rules and procedures is an advantage
• Proficiency in current office software applications and corporate IT financial systems.
• Familiarity of PeopleSoft/ATLAS application is an advantage.
Languages:
Fluency in English is required.
