The Position:
The Finance & Administrative Associate post is located in the Finance and Operations Unit (FOU), Humanitarian Office, based in Geneva. The incumbent will work under the supervision of the Operations Analyst. The Finance & Administrative Associate works within an integrated, coordinated, and systems strengthening approach which is fundamental to the Humanitarian Office and UNFPA’s overall strategy.
The Finance & Administrative Associate provides quality services in the areas of program finance and budget management in compliance with the relevant rules, guidelines, processes and procedures. The Finance Associate delivers quality financial services to internal and external clients mastering all relevant rules, guidelines, processes and procedures. S/he takes a client-oriented results-focused approach to interpreting the rules, procedures and guidelines
he candidate will support the delivery of UNFPA mandate in all settings through administrative, logistical and financial support of the Humanitarian Office. It is intended to strengthen the effectiveness of the office through quality substantive and financial reporting.
Qualification and Experience:
Education:
Completion of secondary school. A first degree would be an advantage.
Knowledge and Experience:
- Six years of relevant experience in administration, finance and procurement management in the public or private sector
- Ability to interpret financial rules, regulations and procedures and explain them clearly and concisely;
- Ability to interpret administrative and personnel rules, regulations and procedures and explain them clearly and concisely. Experience of UN Personnel and administrative procedures desirable;
- Proficiency in use of spreadsheets, word processing and computerized accounting systems;
- Previous experience in the UN, as well as, experience of UN accounting framework and systems, Atlas/PeopleSoft desirable; and familiarity with ATLAS will be an asset. proven capacity in use of web-based applications; good knowledge of Results Based Management.
- Good writing and communication skills.
- UN Clerical Examination is mandatory
- Computer literacy – knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience in using PeopleSoft ERP system essential.
