Position Summary

Under the overall guidance of the Representative and direct supervision of the International Operations Manager, the Finance Analyst is responsible for ensuring the highest efficiency in financial resources management and the provision of accurate, thoroughly researched and documented financial information for effective delivery of financial services and transparent utilization of project financial resources.

The Finance Analyst position supports ‘Saving Lives’ Project within the country office. He/she analyzes and interprets the financial rules and regulations and provides solutions to a wide spectrum of complex financial issues. The Finance Analyst promotes a collaborative, client-oriented approach consistent with UNFPA rules and regulations to achieve the following;

  • Ensure effective and accurate financial resources management and oversight of the DFID Saving Lives Project;
  • Ensure Implementation of operational and financial management strategies and procedures for the Project;
  • Management of  the Project budgets;
  • Ensure proper control of  DFID Saving Lives Project accounts;
  • Ensure facilitation of knowledge building and sharing in the CO.

Qualifications and Experience

Education, Knowledge and Experience:

  • Advanced University Degree in Finance/Accounting, Business, or Public Administration, or a professional accounting qualification from an internationally recognized institute of accountancy;
  • 2 years experience in working in Finance/Operations in the United Nations Common System is required;
  • Solid knowledge of UNFPA Financial Rules and regulations is required;
  • Knowledge of IPSAS and/or IFRS is desirable;
  • Understanding of the UN common system  in particular, UNFPA is desirable;
  • Experience in the production of accounts using a major ERP system, preferably People soft/Oracle is desirable;
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Able to translate business requirements into logical systems specifications.

Language Requirements:

  • Fluency in English;
  • Knowledge of other official UN languages is desirable.
