Position Summary:

The Finance Associate provides leadership in execution of financial services in the Country Office (CO) ensuring effective and transparent utilization of financial resources and integrity of financial services, mastering all relevant rules, guidelines, processes and procedures. S/he takes a client-oriented results-focused approach to interpreting the rules, procedures and guidelines, providing accounting and administrative support and guidance to the CO, provincial offices and implementing partners. 

Qualifications and Experience:

Education:
  • Completed Secondary Level Education is required. First level university degree is an asset.
Knowledge and Experience:
  • 6 years finance-related work experience - accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger maintenance, etc., is required. Experience in the application of IPSAS or IFRS would be advantageous
  • Proficiency in use of spreadsheets, word processing and computerized accounting systems (preferable PeopleSoft)
  • Strong written and oral communications skills
  • Ability to organize effectively, work under pressure with attention to detail, precision and accuracy
  • Dedication to UN principles and demonstrated ability to work harmoniously with persons of different national background.
Languages:
  • Fluency in written and verbal English is required.  Knowledge of a second UN language is an advantage
