The Position:
The CCO liaison will work in close coordination with the Focal Point, HIV/AIDS and under the direction of the Global Coordinator HIV/AIDS, SRHB, Technical Division in support of the coordination UNFPA’s work in HIV including as a cosponsor of the Joint UN Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) particularly as relates to the Committee of Cosponsoring Organizations (CCO) and its supporting groups of Global Coordinators (GC) and Focal Points (FP).
You will report directly to the Global Coordinator, HIV/AIDS.

Job Purpose:
UNFPA is a founding cosponsor of the United Nations Joint Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS). For 2019, the Executive Director of UNFPA has assumed the chair for the UNAIDS Committee of Cosponsoring Organizations (CCO). This triggers an increased responsibility and work for UNFPA particularly at headquarters level. The CCO Chair represents the interest of all 11 cosponsors, facilitates communication with the Secretariat, coordinates and convenes CCO related groups (Global Coordinators (GC) and Focal Points (FP)) and acts as a lead voice of the cosponsors at the UNAIDS Programme Coordinating Board (PCB).
The purpose of this job is to provide support to the Global Coordinator HIV/AIDS and Focal Point HIV/AIDS in collaboration with the broader HIV, technical and policy teams to ensure that UNFPA fulfills its responsibilities as the CCO Chair. Particular support to meetings of the CCO at Head of Agency level and of Global Coordinator and Focal Point groups, and the UNAIDS Programme Coordinating Board including preparation for joint statements, notes for the record, reports and tracking of action points.
Education:
Advanced university degree in health, public/community health, international relations, gender/human rights, political, management or related discipline.
Knowledge and Experience:
5 years experience in HIV/AIDS especially primary prevention or related fields: SRHR, community systems strengthening, stigma and discrimination, gender equality/human rights.
Excellent interpersonal communication and writing skills
Understanding of the UN system in general, and especially UNFPA’s mandate, policies, operations and development topics and the UNAIDS Strategy 2016-2021.
Languages:
Fluency in English; knowledge of other official UN languages, preferably French and/or Spanish, is desirable.
