Duty station: Juba, South Sudan and Flied Visits to representative Sates will be arranged with the consultant
Duration: 60 days
Background
1. Introduction/Background
The South Sudan population is among the youngest in the world with about 73.7% of the total population is below 30 years old (2008 census). This population requires urgent attention to address challenges related to unemployment, poverty, HIV&AIDS and poor access to health. The majority of the populations are unemployed. This demographic situation is causing a significant pressure in basic social needs which are limited by the prolonged war.
There are ongoing initiatives to address the challenges facing young people of South Sudan; however, there is limited comprehensive outlook of the situation of young people in South Sudan. This makes it difficult to advocate for adolescents and youth issues

These may include: South Sudan Development Plan, South Sudan vision 2040, Draft Youth Development Plan & Strategy, and other sectoral policies, plans and reports, administrative data/statistics. The review will also cover any studies and research conducted on adolescents and youth in South Sudan.
- Consultative Meeting with Groups of Youth – Consultative meeting will be held with groups of youth in Greater Upper Nile; the Equatoria and Bar-el-Ghazal; and in Juba for cosmopolitan groups. These consultative meetings will validate some of the findings as well as generate aspirations, dreams and priorities for your people.
- Key Informant interviews - Conduct key informant interviews with policy and decision makers in relevant youth sectors, religious and traditional/cultural leaders and youth leaders themselves.
- Validation workshop - this will be done with mixture of youth, policy and decision makers, services providers, etc.
