Programme Analyst ,Gender would be responsible for:
Participates in the identification and formulation of the country Programme and component projects by compiling and analyzing information in the subject area of gender and Human Rights, drafts project documents and work plans, and prepares tables and statistical data.
Evaluates gender projects and Programme activities, establishing and implementing mechanisms to systematically assess the achievement of results, conducting field visits to the Community Well-Being Centers (CWCs) in the governorates, participating in review meetings and evaluation missions and preparing regular inputs to status and progress reports. Analyzes factors affecting the achievement of results, recommends corrective actions and follows up on recommendations.
Contributes to creation and sharing of knowledge by synthesizing and documenting findings and lessons learned, success stories and best practices, strategies and approaches of the CO, and drafting relevant materials for dissemination.
Supports advocacy and resource mobilization strategy of the CO by compiling and synthesizing relevant background material for use in discussions and public events. Establishes and maintains network of donor and public information contacts and provides assistance in organizing and conducting donor meetings and public information events.
Contribute in GAM (Gender & Age Marker) vetting for the HRP project sheets.
Liaise with field coordinators for continuous monitoring of the CWCs and reporting back to the Country Office.
Analyzes and interprets the political, social and economic environment relevant to gender and Human Rights, in cooperation with other programmes, and identifies opportunities for UNFPA assistance and intervention. Keeps abreast of new policy developments and strategies analyzing policy papers, strategy documents, national plans and development frameworks, and prepares briefs and inputs for policy dialogue, technical assistance coordination, and development frameworks.
Represent Gender unit in the GBV sub- sector, Protection sector and gender working group if needed.
Assist in providing training in the field of gender and human rights for the Implementing Partners and UN agencies as required.
Follow up of the gender and human rights issues with the relevant government counterparts including treaties, conventions and resolution ratified by Syrian government.
Contribute to the assessment and research (quantitative and qualitative) conducted by the government or national NGOs for the gender unit.
In close cooperation with M&E unit contributes to collection of data for gender program implementation form IPs and its analyses
Other duties as deemed necessary
Education:
Advanced degree in sociology, economy, business administration and/or other related social science field. Or Bachelor’s degree with two years’ professional experience in the field of GBV/gender and human rights
Knowledge and Experience:
Prior experience in the field of gender and women’s issues.
Experience in research (qualitative and quantitative) and assessments as well as data collection and analysis.
Familiarity with the international conventions and resolutions related to gender and Human Rights.
Strong verbal and written communications skills
Languages:
Fluency in both written and spoken English and Arabic.
