Job Summary
The Programme Analyst, Youth, is supporting the delivery of UNFPA’s programmes in the area of Adolescents and Youth (A&Y) in Egypt. You will provide all support needed so that the Country Programme is duly executed with quality outcomes in this area, in accordance with international standards and human rights principles and in line with corporate strategies and policies.
You will report directly to the Programme Specialist-Youth.
In the UNFPA country office in Egypt and in the context of the implementation of the Country Programme for Egypt, you will play vital role in adolescents and youth programming, including mainstreaming adolescents & youth in all programme areas. You will contribute to strengthen national capacity to provide comprehensive youth programming and provide strategic support with responsibility for technical support and programming.
Primary focus is placed on interventions and support in the area of sexual and reproductive health, within the context of youth empowerment and overall development.
You will analyze and assesses relevant political, social and economic trends and provide inputs, project formulation, monitoring and evaluation, joint programming initiatives and national development frameworks. You will ensure and guide the appropriate application of UNFPA systems, policies, rules and procedures.
Qualifications and Experience
Education:
Advanced university degree in Development Studies, Sociology, Population, Public Health or other related social science field.
Knowledge and Experience:
- A minimum of 2 years of progressive responsible professional experience, including experience in programme management, including large multi-sector projects, designing and appraising proposals and actively liaising with relevant and potential project partners;
- Experience in drafting and implementing policies, in particular, related to adolescents & youth;
- Solid knowledge of youth, particularly young girls and women, issues in development and humanitarian contexts, including relevant international human rights standards;
- Prior training in A&Y programming and their application in development and humanitarian settings;
- Experience in utilizing the tools to implement international conventions for A&Y;
- Field experience is an asset;
- Prior experience in the UN system will be an asset.
Languages:
Fluency in English and Arabic are essential.
