Job Summary

The Programme Specialist, Youth, is responsible for the delivery of UNFPA’s programmes in the area of Adolescents and Youth (A&Y) in Egypt.  You will ensure that the Country Programme is duly executed with quality outcomes in this area, in accordance with international standards and human rights principles and in line with corporate strategies and policies.

You will report directly to the Assistant Representative.

 

Qualifications and Experience

Education: 

  • Advanced university degree in Development Studies, Sociology, Public Health or other related social science field. 

Knowledge and Experience:

  • 5 years of increasingly responsible relevant professional experience, including experience in programme management, including large multi-sector projects, designing and appraising proposals and actively liaising with relevant and potential project partners.
  • Experience in drafting and implementing policies, in particular, related to adolescents & youth;
  • Solid knowledge of youth, particularly young girls and women, issues in development and humanitarian contexts, including relevant international human rights standards;
  • Prior training in A&Y programming and their application in development and humanitarian settings;
  • Experience in utilizing the tools to implement international conventions for A&Y;
  • Field experience is an asset;
  • Prior experience in the UN system will be an asset;

Languages:

  • Fluency in English and Arabic are essential
