The Position:

The Project Coordinator will oversee the implementation of UNFPA activities related to the Ouagadougou Partnership Commodity Matching Fund across participating countries. He/she will be responsible for the effective and efficient day-to-day management of the project, that aims at “Boosting Commodity Investment in the 9 countries of the Ouagadougou Partnership through Matching Fund Incentive”.

The Project Coordinator will report to the Practice Leader of the Women and Reproductive Health Unit at the West & Central Africa Regional office – who provides technical and programmatic leadership to the project management, under the overall supervision of the Deputy Regional Director.

Job Purpose:

The Project Coordinator will manage the project and work with the implementing partners across the 9 countries of the Ouagadougou Partnership, in order to guarantee its smooth implementation and ensure fluid communication between all involved partners and stakeholders (Government counterparts, UNFPA Country Offices, Civil Society Organizations and Development partners – Ouagadougou Partnership members).

 

Qualifications and Experience

Education:

Advanced university degree in Public Health, Population studies, Management, Social Science, or other related fields.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • At least Two years of professional experience in both government and international /multi/bi-lateral organizations funding /supporting development with strong program/project management and coordination knowledge ;
  • Practical experience in monitoring and evaluation of development projects ;
  • Result oriented, with proven experience in using results-based management tools ;
  • Experience in Knowledge management and evidence-based advocacy ;
  • Good understanding of government systems, particularly in the budget development areas ;
  • Experience in the field of Reproductive Health Commodity Security (RHCS) will be an asset ;
  • Experience using office software packages and web-based management systems ;
  • Experience in managing Family Planning commodities is an asset.

Languages:

  • Fluency in French;
  • Knowledge of other official UN languages is desirable.
