Job Summary

The evolving situation in Syria following seven years of crisis resulted in a devastating impact on the developmental progress attained by the country. Under the existing humanitarian structure UNFPA have presented a strong stand on creating and supporting the GBV prevention and response program.

UNFPA country office developed a multi-donor program on GBV to meet the needs of women and girls in Syria. The program started in 2014, providing basic GBV comprehensive services through Women and Girls Safe Spaces (WGSS). The number of WGSS established is consistently growing and increase reach to target populations, the number is reaching 35 WGSS allover 12 governorates, multiple successful campaigns have been conducted throughout Syria including the 16 Days of activism and International days.

With substantial financial support from the UKAID through DFID, the UNFPA CO prioritized the deployment of GBV Program Assistant(s) to support implementation of donor funds aiming at strengthening GBV prevention and response.

Under the direct supervision of UNFPA - GBV Specialist, the GBV program assistant will provide full support for the effective and efficient implementation of UNFPA’s GBV program.

Education and Experience :Minimum High school Diploma with 5 years of experience in the public or private sector , Previous experience in a humanitarian project or the UN system is an asset;Specific experience on gender empowerment specifically on GBV a distinct advantage OR Bachelor Degree in related field . with two years of relevant experience.  

Language Requirements: Fluent written and spoken Arabic( mother tongue) and English

Computer: Knowledge of Microsoft office programmes is required.
