The Online Communications Officer works with the online communications team and an external team of website developers to create state of the art, data-driven web pages and interactive reports to be launched on www.unfpa.org, the organization’s global website.

Main Tasks & Responsibilities
 

• Serve as the project manager for the UNFPA global website: www.unfpa.org  

• Coordinate work of designers, developers and UNFPA staff to generate web projects  and features, including interactive features, campaign websites and data visualization dashboards

• Work with graphic designers, website developers and the quality-assurance team to improve existing website functionality, and develop and test new functionality

• Liaise with focal points in across UNFPA to identify new requirements and needs

• Design creative concepts and reference documents for the creation of interactive web pages and online reports

• Evaluate and test new website functionalities and align with user requirements to ensure consistent product quality

• Research the latest trends in website development and introduce them to colleagues on the online communications team

• Publish documents and other content elements in the corporate web content management system

• Design and publish online newsletter

• Analyze and report on web traffic

• Participate in short- and long-term planning of UNFPA’s global online environment

 

Required Qualifications and Experience
 

• Advanced university degree in a related field is required.

• At least 2 years of relevant professional experience in the field of digital communications

• Clear understanding of UX/UI requirements for modern websites

• Good written and spoken English is essential; knowledge of French and/or Spanish is an advantage.

• Strong communications skills, with proven expertise in developing compelling and modern digital communications materials.

• Sound knowledge of web 2.0 and digital technologies.

• Good planning, project-management skills.

• Familiarity with gender equality issues, sexual and reproductive health, human rights, and youth issues would be an asset.

Duration:  Six months initially
