  • Would you like to work to reduce maternal mortality and morbidity in Simiyu?
  • Are you experienced in programme management?

If so, this might be the position for you.

About Us
UNFPA, the United Nations Populations Fund, is the lead UN agency for delivering a world where every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe and every young person’s potential is fulfilled.

How You Can Make a Difference
The United Republic of Tanzania’s (Mainland and semi-autonomous Zanzibar) maternal mortality ratio was 432 per 100,000 live births in 2012. Only 9 percent of upgraded health centers offer emergency obstetric and newborn care, and about 3,000 women suffer obstetric fistulae annually, of whom only 20 per cent can access surgery. Contraceptive stock-outs were reported in 73 percent of facilities. Sociocultural values favour large family size; misconceptions about family planning and potential side effects are widespread.

As Programme Analyst, your overall objective will be strengthening health systems to reduce maternal mortality and morbidity in the region. You will support the implementation of the 2 year project (2017 – 2018) in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children (MOHCDGEC) and President’s Office Regional Administration and Local Government (PORALG). As Programme Analyst, you will use UNFPA and national systems and tools to support delivery of project results and work as part of the UN Delivering as One (DaO) and UNFPA programme and operations team to ensure that project priorities are central to national initiatives to promote social economic development of the people of Tanzania guided by the National Development Plan.
