The Position:

The purpose of this post is to provide UNFPA with a Project Management Specialist who will support the Branch for several projects, including the Georeferenced Infrastructure and Demographic Data for Development (GRID3) project management coordination, monitoring and reporting in up to 15 countries. S/he will also support the management and implementation of the Youth Mixed Migration Project, and support project management of several related field projects operating though PDB. The candidate will be expected to contribute substantially to the implementation of timely and effective partnerships with Regional and Country Offices, and to the support processing, visualization and production of data from these projects.

S/he will report directly to the Lead, GRID3 Project and the lead of the Mixed Migration Project, under the overall Supervision of the Branch Chief.

Job Purpose:

This post will provide project management support to UNFPA’s work on census, geospatial data, youth and migration. The candidate will support the work of the Branch’s Technical Advisers to ensure effective coordination amongst all project partners and that all project deliverables are completed on a timely basis.  

Education:  

Post-graduate University Degree in public health, social science, public administration, population studies, geography, non-profits management, or other relevant field.

Knowledge and Experience: 

• 2 years relevant and progressively responsible experience in international coordination of development projects addressing public health, youth, or migration 

• Prior experience using geospatial data for development highly desirable

• Sound knowledge of the development environment and knowledge of UNFPA’s operational environment desirable.

• Excellent management, communications and organizational skills required.

• Demonstrated experience in organizing workshops, side events or relevant outreach and advocacy events at the international, regional and local levels

• Research competency in survey and/or qualitative methods, including competencies in the use of statistical packages such as STATA, R or SPSS, or geospatial software is an asset.

Languages: 

Fluency in English; knowledge of other official UN languages, preferably French and/or Spanish, is highly desirable.
