Position Summary:

The Resource Mobilization Specialist post is located in the Resource Mobilization Branch (RMB), Division of Communications and Strategic Partnerships (DCS) in New York.

• Advise on co-financing procedures and guidelines;

• Review/clear and, when necessary, negotiate and revise co-financing agreements with donors; • Maintain close relation with donor representatives in UN missions and capitals in order to ensure appropriate level of contribution;

• Undertake donor studies (donor policies, sectoral and geographic preferences, etc), research and other activities with a view to identifying funding opportunities;

• Develop specific donor fund-raising strategies and approaches when relevant and solicit funding proposals from relevant UNFPA program units;

Requirements:

Education:

• Advanced university degree in the Social Sciences, Political Science, Economics, or  International  Relations.

Qualifications & Experience:

 At least 7  years of experience at national and international level, of which, 3-5 years must be related to Resource Mobilization and Public Relations, as well as dealing with development assistance and donor relations, and including a good track record in fund-raising;

• Excellent English language writing and communications skills;

• Familiarity with UNFPA programmes and policies, knowledge of international development financing, and international politics;

• Excellent negotiation skills,  advocacy and public speaking;

• Thorough knowledge/understanding of the UN system and its funding architecture, in particular joint funding mechanisms;

Launguage:

• Fluency in English is required, fluency in French or Spanish an asset.
