Position Summary:
In all activities, the Sexual and Reproductive Health and Right/Gender-Based Violence (SRH/GBV) Project Coordinator fosters collaboration within the country Spotlight Initiative Team, particularly within the programme/technical team providing integrated programme and technical support; as he/she facilitates communication and information exchanges between the UN agencies and the donors.
The SRHR/GBV Project Coordinator will work under the overall leadership of the Country Office Representative, and will report directly to the Deputy Representative.
Job Purpose:
The SRHR/GBV Project Coordinator contributes to the co-ordination and management of quality, timely and integrated technical and programme support to the Spotlight Initiative, ensuring that programs are implemented in the context of the ICPD Program of Action and UNFPA Strategic Plan as well as national development processes, frameworks and UN reform. She/he is in charge of ensuring sound and adequate technical integration of UNFPA’s agenda of SRHR/GBV in Mali, monitors country level technical support progress and needs, and provides feedback to a team of regional Technical Advisers.
Key results expected of the SRHR/GBV project Coordinator include:
- Effective co-ordination and delivery of country and regional level programme support;
- Programme assessment and support;
- Assistance in advocacy and positioning of ICPD in policy dialogue; and
- Support to resource mobilization efforts.
The primary activities of the SRHR/GBV Project Coordinator are:
- Support to Policy and Programme Development and Implementation respecting the Spotlight Initiative framework and programme management guidelines
- Capacity Development
- Knowledge Management
- Programme Management Support
As the Spotlight Initiative Focal Point assigned to the Country Programme, the SRHR/GBV Project Coordinator ensures that programme assistance and capacity development needs are met and technical assistance is delivered and managed effectively through appropriate EU-UN modalities.
Qualifications and Experience:
Education
Advanced university Degree in Public Health, Medicine, Sociology, Demography, Gender, Economics, International Relations, International Development, Public Administration, Management or other related fields.
Knowledge and experience:
- 7 years of increasing responsibility and professional experience in management and development relevant to population and development, sexual and reproductive health and gender, including three at the international level;
- Substantive knowledge and practical experience in population and development, sexual and reproductive health, and gender, including integration of SRHR/GBV;
- Experience in programme and/or technical assistance with the UN System or with European Union (EU);
- Strong communications and writing skills in English and French;
- Field experience is required.
Languages:
Fluency in French and English is required.
