The Position:
The Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) Specialist is located in the Response and Technical Support Unit (RTSU), Humanitarian Office, based in Geneva. The post is part of the integrated technical team of experts, working under the close supervision of the Programme/Technical Adviser, to promote sexual and reproductive health programming in emergencies and contribute to strengthening the capacity.

Job Purpose
Under the direct supervision of the Response and Technical Support Unit (RTSU) Head, the SRH Specialist facilitates the capacity strengthening component of the UNFPA institutional strategy to incorporate and mainstream the Programme of Action of the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) into the overall humanitarian preparedness, response and transition. S/he promotes sexual and reproductive health programming in emergencies and contribute to strengthening the organization-wide capacity for timely and effective response to humanitarian crises, particularly in Scale-up countries. S/he coordinates efforts for improving the quality of humanitarian operational and system efficiencies for agile response in the field. The core functions of the SRH Specialist include the following:
- Provides strategic technical support ;
- Facilitates operational and systems efficiency ;
- Contributes to organization-wide capacity development and response coordination ;
- Promotes institutional partnerships and representation in humanitarian-related technical working groups in Geneva.
Qualifications and Experience
Education:
Advanced University degree in Public Health, Sexual and Reproductive Health or any other related field; Clinical degree (midwifery or obstetrics) preferred.
Knowledge and Experience:
- 7 years of increasingly responsible professional and managerial experiences in the field of humanitarian response, part of which should be in sexual and reproductive health.
- Working experience in humanitarian settings is required
- Prior experience in the UN system is an advantage;
- Previous experience and solid skills in designing/supporting/facilitating trainings is required
- Familiarity with IASC and other humanitarian coordination mechanisms, guiding principles and standards;
- Solid interpersonal communication skills;
- Proficiency in current office software applications.
Languages:
- Fluency in English and French is required.
- Working knowledge of another official UN language is an advantage.
