Organizational Setting
The post is located within the Division for Communication and Strategic Partnerships and Reports to the Chief, Strategic Partnerships Branch. 
 
The Strategic Partnerships Specialist will be responsible for the development and management of a range of activities to ensure strategic partnerships in the three areas identified by the SPB Strategy for consolidating and positioning UNFPA’s brand through strategic partnerships. The Strategic Partnerships Specialist has a key role in the Branch in mapping, outreaching and increasing the number of Reach, Resource Mobilization and Brainpower Partnerships with a specific reference to a portfolio including maternal health and SRHR programs.
 
With respect to this, particular emphasis will be placed on ensuring strategic mobilization, visibility and allocation of resources from partners and non-traditional donors to  UNFPA, through joint work with relevant offices and directions at the HQ and assisting staff at the field level in negotiating with partners to mainstream partners’ support in global, regional and country strategic priorities. Qualifications and Experience
 
Education
  • Advanced University Degree in Business Administration, Development Economics, Marketing, Social Sciences or related discipline. A specialization in corporate social responsibility/ Sustainability is highly desirable
  • Knowledge and Experience: 
Experience
  • 7 years of increasingly progressive experience in fostering partnerships with the private sector at national or international level. Solid and diverse technical and operational management experience in fund-raising/partnerships/foundation development initiatives, resulting in significant revenue growth;
  • Demonstrated success in fundraising, organizational branding through partnership creation in the private sector (profit or non profit) or UN system;
  • Superior understanding of major private and corporate foundation landscape, operations and culture(s),particularly in the areas of corporate social responsibility and sustainability strategy for the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals; 
  • Proven track record for securing and managing multi-year/multi-million dollar corporate partnerships;
  • Strong diplomacy skills and political savvy; the ability to strategically and effectively navigate within complex environments; 
  • Ability to conceptualize and actualize goals consistent with a strategic, long-term focus for private sector development;
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and oral); ability to eloquently articulate the case for support.
Languages 
  • Fluency in English is a requirement. Knowledge of a second UN language desirable.
