The Position:
The Programme Analyst, Maternal Health (Morbidity and Mortality) will be based in Cox’s Bazar. He/she reports to the SRH Programme and Midwifery Specialist in UNFPA Sub-Office in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh.

Job Purpose:
This position will focus prevention and response to maternal morbidity and mortality surveillance, prevention, and response; for both host and refugee communities in the district of Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh. The incumbent will work closely with all partners for maternal mortality surveillance and focuses on UNFPA programming for supporting prevention, response, and near misses. The incumbent will also work closely with the SRH Team Leader and Head of Sub-Office in ensuring appropriate coordination with the Cox’s Bazar office, Civil Surgeon office, relevant stakeholders and SRHR team in UNFPA Dhaka country office.
Requirements:
Qualifications and Experience
Education:
Advanced degree in health or health related field with a background in medicine, nursing or midwifery.
Knowledge and Experience:
• Minimum 2 years of clinical experience as a public health professional, preferably in a low resource setting.
• Practical experience in emergency health sector, maternal health issues and service delivery
• Knowledge and understanding of UN/UNFPA humanitarian/development programming and operations, and about UN common programming principles including human-rights based approach, gender equality and capacity development.
• Strong expertise in capacity development
• Ability to express clearly and concisely ideas and concepts in written and oral forms
• Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS word, Excel etc) experience in handling of web-based management systems
• Demonstrated experience in working successfully as a member of multi-disciplinary team
• Ability to self-manage, emotional intelligence, empathy, team spirit, conflict management as well as negotiating skills.
• Practical experience facilitating and training of staff and partners, preferably for maternal health related activities
Languages:
Fluency in English; knowledge of other official UN languages is preferable.
