UNITED NATIONS, New York —The links between culture and promoting human rights, especially women’s rights, will be the focus of a new report by UNFPA, the United Nations Population Fund. The State of World Population 2008 report, which coincides with the 60th anniversary year of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, showcases the role of culturally sensitive approaches in realizing these rights.

Reaching Common Ground: Culture, Gender and Human Rights, and its youth supplement, Generation of Change: Young People and Culture, are under embargo until 1200 GMT on 12 November. The report will be launched in 150 cities around the world.
