This is how UNFPA is tracking temperatures to further ensure the quality of all condoms procured. To help avert risk to end-users and improve access to quality-assured condoms, UNFPA is working to ensure the quality of condoms by including temperature tracking devices that will electronically monitor the temperature conditions of all condom shipments from the supplier's warehouse to the final destination. Monitoring temperature conditions will allow  UNFPA to discover and respond to any damage caused during the shipment and storage of the condoms.

The World Health Organization (WHO), United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), in consultation with international experts and stakeholders, underscore the importance of ensuring the availability of quality-assured oxytocin at all assisted births to save women’s lives. This recommendation results from an exhaustive review of current evidence around oxytocin, particularly the finding that poor quality oxytocin is in circulation in many countries.

Capacity building

As part of the commitment to ensure that all individuals have access to affordable, quality reproductive health (RH) supplies, UNFPA offers procurement capacity building in the form of technical support, training, and mentoring activities for key stakeholders in the procurement, production, and regulation of RH commodities.
