H4+

March 12, 2015

Around the world, over 280,000 women die every year from complications during pregnancy or childbirth. Six United Nations agencies have come together in a joint effort called H4+, to reduce child and maternal mortality rates and ensure that all mothers and children have access to the best possible care to enable them to live healthy, productive lives.

The H4+ partnership includes UNAIDS, UNFPA, UNICEF, UN Women, WHO and the World Bank.

UNFPA in the UN system

UNFPA is a subsidiary organ of the United Nations General Assembly. It plays a unique role within the United Nations system: to address population and development issues, with an emphasis on reproductive health and gender equality, within the context of the ICPD Programme of Action and international development goals.

This overview report summarizes the H4+ partnership, objectives and country achievements made to date.

H6 Partnership

The H6 partnership (formerly H4+) harnesses the collective strengths of the UNFPA, UNICEF, UN Women, WHO, UNAIDS, and the World Bank Group to advance the Every Woman Every Child (EWEC) Global Strategy and support country leadership and action for women’s, children’s and adolescents’ health.
