The Position:
The Finance Associate position is part of the Finance Branch, Division for Management Services. The Finance Branch is responsible for global financial management, statutory and specialized reporting, and for policy development and the provision of advice, operational guidance, support and oversight in the areas of general accounting, accounts payable, contributions receivable, other accounts receivable, fund management, donor reporting, treasury management, management of cash transfer to IPs, and inventory management. The Branch also plays a key role in the custody and distribution of financial resources and the monitoring of expenditures and the strengthening of ongoing compliance with the International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS).
You will report directly to the Head, Global Monitoring and Advisory Team.

Job Purpose:
The Finance Associate is responsible for providing support and guidance to UNFPA field offices (FOs) and Headquarter Divisions (HQ), ensuring effective and transparent utilization of financial resources and integrity of financial services in line with UNFPA Financial Regulations and Rules and Policies.
The Finance Associate promotes a client-oriented approach and contributes to implementation of Finance Branch workplan. The Finance Associate provides guidance to support staff in the GMAT unit as well as guidance to finance officers in field offices, and coordinates various activities as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
Education:
● Completion of secondary school education with supplemental training in accounting is required;
● Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or other related field is desirable but not a requirement;
● Part-qualified or qualified accountants from an internationally recognized institute of accountancy will have a distinct advantage.
Knowledge and Experience:
● Minimum 7 years of experience in accounting and/or finance is required;
● Proficiency in use of excel, word processing and computerized accounting systems is required;
● Knowledge of ERP Oracle Peoplesoft is an advantage
Languages:
Fluency in English is required; knowledge of other official UN languages, preferably French and/or Spanish, is desirable.
