Position Summary:

Under the direct supervision of the Emergency Coordinator (EC), the Humanitarian Analyst is responsible for the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of emergency preparedness and response initiatives within the UNFPA mandate in the Southern Sudan programme, with a particular focus on capacity-building for national institutions, organizations and structures. As such, this position will ensure that within its mandate, the UNFPA Southern Sudan office meets the organization's humanitarian programmatic and operational commitments defined within the Humanitarian Principles. In this capacity, s/he will work closely with the UNFPA programmes, operations staff, Ministry of Health, and key partners at the central and state levels.

Required Skills and Experience:

Education:
  • University degree in, public health, medical sciences, social sciences or other related field is required. Those with a post-graduate qualification in a public health related field have an added advantage.
Experience:
  • Five years progressively responsible professional work experience in emergency and/or humanitarian programmes at national and/or international level. Field experience in emergency programme planning, management or evaluation a distinct advantage. Relevant UN, government or international NGO experience an asset;
  • Experience planning and facilitating training and other capacity-building initiativesbut especially inMinimum Initial Services Package for RH, Emergency Obstetric Care and related areas.
Languages:
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of Arabic is desirable.
