The post of Humanitarian Specialist, Rapid Response Mechanism (RRM) is located in Sana’a office in Yeman and reports to Humanitarian Coordinator.

Job Purpose

The primary function of the Humanitarian Specialist for RRM will be to ensure quality implementation of the Rapid Response Mechanism. The mechanism distributes dignity kits (UNFPA), hygiene kits (UNICEF) and ready to eat food rations (WFP) to populations fleeing fighting within 72 hours of trigger. He/She will develop strong, collaborative relationships across the organization and with external partners especially UNICEF, WFP, IOM and RRM implementing partners; ensure the application of effective programme planning, monitoring and evaluation principles; identify bottlenecks in RRM implementation and devise strategies to address them; and provide leadership to ensure that technical knowledge is updated and disseminated for effective implementation. 

Education: 

Advanced university qualifications in international relations/humanitarian law, social anthropology or related fields;

Knowledge and Experience:

5 years of  relevant professional work experience in humanitarian settings;

Solid and documented experience in emergency relief operation, in kind and monetized assistance.

Knowledge and understanding of UN humanitarian coordination architecture;

Fluency in English is essential, good working knowledge in Arabic is an asset;

Experience in protection mainstreaming
