INTERNATIONAL INDIVIDUAL CONSULTANT FOR UN INTER-AGENCY SUPPORT (International consultant based in Dhaka)
Duration: 3 months with possibility of extension
Expected start date: As soon as possible (September 2020).
Purpose of consultancy:
A novel SARS-Coronavirus originated in Wuhan Province of China in December of 2019 causing the disease, COVID-19. The World Health Organization declared COVID-19 as a pandemic on March 11, 2020, following its spread to 190 countries. The first confirmed case of COVID-19 in Bangladesh was identified on March 8, 2020. As of August 24, 2020, 297,083 people have been infected by COVID-19 and 3,983 have died from the disease (But the unofficial numbers of undiagnosed individuals are likely to be higher).
The UN Country Team in Bangladesh is closely supporting the government in its COVID-19 response. The response is coordinated through the Bangladesh Preparedness and Response Plan (BPRP), which is segmented into the following nine pillars:

1. Surveillance and Laboratory Support
2. Contact Tracing and Community Transmission
3. Quarantine and Point of Entry
Health Service Delivery
4. Infection Prevention and Control
5. Case Management
6. Essential Services
Others
7. Logistics and Procurement (supplies)
8. Risk Communication and Community Engagement
9. Research
Each pillar is coordinated by a UN focal point in close partnership with a government counterpart. The UN Country team’s COVID-19 response support is coordinated by the UN Interagency Support Team under the Resident Coordinator’s Office.
The purpose of this consultancy is to assist the UN Interagency Support Team in managing the UN Country team’s COVID-19 response in Bangladesh.
There will be multiple assignments and tasks. The consultant can be paid a monthly fee.
The consultant will be expected to work in-person with the UN Inter-Agency Support Team. The supervisor(s) will be providing day-to-day monitoring and supervision.
The Consultant will work under the overall guidance of the Programme Analyst, Maternal Health at UNFPA.
S/He will be co-supervised by the Coordinator of the UN Interagency Support Team.
The Consultant will have to make her/his own arrangements and bear cost to attend meetings and consultations while in Dhaka.
Requirements:
Knowledge and Experience:
- Master’s degree in information management-related field preferred but not mandatory
- At least 3 years’ relevant work experience
- Previous work experience in Bangladesh preferred
- Fluent in English with excellent writing proficiency
High proficiency in use of Excel, Google Sheets, and Tableau
Note: Only internationals who are currently present in Bangladesh will be considered for the consultancy given challenges in international travel at the moment.
