The Joint Programme for Multi-Sectoral Gender-Based Violence Response at the District Level in Nepal worked to increase the use of gender-based violence prevention and protection services by women, men and children in four districts, while creating a supportive community environment for prevention and management of gender-based violence.
The programme trained service providers, police and community leaders to treat GBV survivors in a sensitive manner, while also supporting survivors’ awareness of, and access to, information, resources and referrals to services such as counseling.
A joint effort of UNFPA, UNICEF and UN Women, with funding from UN Women, the programme ran from 2009 to 2013.
