Preventing and Responding to Sexual Violence against Women, Youth and Children in the Democratic Republic of the Congo

The Joint Programme for Prevention and Response to Sexual Violence against Women, Young People and Children in the Democratic Republic of the Congo worked in three provinces to contribute to violence prevention and to meet the needs of survivors. The project activities included collecting data, building service providers’ capacity, conducting advocacy and raising awareness to enhance health, psychosocial and legal services and ensure that survivors are accepted within their communities.

A joint effort of UNFPA, UNICEF and OHCHR, with funding from Belgium, the project ran from 2005 to 2009.
