The Policy for Outside Activities and/or Honors, Decorations, Favors, Gifts, Awards, Remuneration from Outside Parties clarifies the nature of prohibited non-UNFPA/non-United Nations (“outside”) activities, the conditions under which UNFPA staff members shall seek authorization for outside activities, and identifies those types of outside activities that do not require any authorization. Furthermore, it explains the circumstances under which staff members may accept an honor, decoration, favor, gift, award or remuneration from outside entities.

This policy is intended to ensure that information concerning UNFPA programmes and operations is available to the public, with some exceptions. UNFPA considers public access to information a key component of effective participation of all.
