Position Summary:

The current Programme is synchronized with the United Nations Strategic Framework for Myanmar 2012-2015 and aligned with UNFPA’s Strategic Plan 2014-2017. The 4th Country Programme is expected to span 2018-2022 within the umbrella of the first United Nations Development Assistance Framework (2018-2022), as well as UNFPA’s new Strategic Plan (2018-2021). The new country programme seeks to support efforts in advancing sexual and reproductive health and rights, gender equality and women's empowerment and population dynamics. Youth and adolescents and gender issues are mainstreamed throughout the programme.

The Programme Associate is located in Nay Pyi Taw Liaison Office and reports to the UNFPA Programme Specialist, Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment, in close coordination with the head of Nay Pyi Taw Liaison Office/Assistant Representative.

The Programme Associate supports the design, planning and management of UNFPA’s country programme by providing and managing data inputs, providing logistical support, monitoring project implementation and following up on recommendations. The Programme Associate applies established systems and procedures and assists in the creation of substantive knowledge by compiling, synthesizing and analyzing information relevant to population and development, reproductive health and gender issues. S/he is instrumental in facilitating programme/ project implementation using and developing appropriate mechanisms and systems and ensuring compliance with established procedures.

Requirements:

Qualifications and Experience 

 

Education: 

Completed Secondary Level Education required. First level university degree desirable.

Knowledge and Experience:

• Seven years of relevant experience in programme/ project management.

• Proficiency in current office software applications and corporate IT systems.

Languages:

Fluency in oral and written English and Myanmar is essential with ability to write clearly and concisely and to compose correspondence and documents in both languages. Knowledge of local languages in one of UNFPA target states and regions is an asset.
