Joint United Nations Programme on Adolescent Girls in Malawi

The Joint UN Programme on Adolescent Girls in Malawi worked to advance the rights of adolescent girls in the Chikhwawa and Mangochi districts.

A joint project of UNFPA, UNICEF and WHO, the programme ran from 2011 to 2016. It focused on access to education opportunities, access to sexual and reproductive health information and services, protection from gender-based violence and increased participation and leadership in youth and community development initiatives, while also enhancing visibility and advocacy for the needs of adolescent girls.

A second phase of the programme ran from 2016 to 2017.
