Hemayati: Promoting Women's and Girls' Health and Well-being

The Hemayati Promoting Women and Girls’ Health and Well-being joint programme worked to ensure that Syrian refugees in Jordan as well as vulnerable women and girls in host communities ­­– especially survivors of sexual and gender-based violence – have access to comprehensive support and care, including sexual and reproductive health services, psychosocial support, shelters, and legal services to prevent and address sexual and gender-based violence.
 
The programme brought together the expertise of UNFPA, UNICEF and UN Women, working in partnership with the Ministry of Social Development and the Jordanian Women’s Union, a non-governmental organization headquartered in Amman. Implemented from 2014 to 2019, the programme built on an initial phase, running from 2013 to 2015.
