The conflict in the Central Sahel region, one of the world’s fastest-growing emergencies, has created a protection crisis for women and girls. Escalating violence and displacement have heightened the risk of gender-based violence and harmful practices and disrupted access to basic services, including sexual and reproductive health care. In Niger, where climate-related hazards pose an additional concern, millions of people have been affected. UNFPA’s humanitarian action in Niger includes life-saving services such as family planning, maternal health care and support for GBV survivors, as well as awareness raising, delivery of supplies, and capacity strengthening initiatives.
