The Hemayati: Supporting Sexual and Gender-based violence Survivors to Access Life-Saving Services Joint Programme supported nine safe spaces, managed by the Jordanian Women’s Union, to provide quality comprehensive services for GBV survivors.
The project also worked to build the capacities of staff and support the collection and analysis of relevant information, while five of the centres were also supported in providing reproductive health services, an entry point for detection of GBV cases. At the same time, the project worked towards the future establishment of two shelters for GBV survivors.
A joint effort of UNFPA, UNICEF and UN Women, with funding from Norway, the programme ran from 2013 to 2015. A second phase ran from 2014 to 2019.
