Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn and Child Health Fund

The Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (RMNCH) Fund is a multi-donor financing mechanism established in response to the UN Secretary-General’s Global Strategy for Women’s and Children’s Health and the Every Woman Every Child movement for increasing access to life-saving services, including essential medicines and medical devices, that address preventable causes of death during pregnancy, childbirth and childhood.

The RMNCH Fund provided financial resources to assist countries in developing and implementing national RMNCH plans to improve access to and use of RMNCH commodities and services.

It emphasized alignment with the local situation, harmonization with national priorities, and addressing gaps left by existing domestic resources and development partnerships.

An joint effort of UNFPA, UNICEF and WHO, the Fund operated from 2013 to 2017.
